January: The ART Issue

It's officially the beginning of a brand new decade, which means a fresh start for some, and a fresh new look for V-Rag... Just in time for our very special art edition! Our seventh issue and first of the new year is a celebration of all things art in every medium possible. From the legendary paintings of gay icon Attila Richard Lukacs to the far-out installation work of Geoffrey Farmer, the hyper-realistic skater boy drawings of Brian Boulton to the moody fashion photography of Angela Fama. We got to catch up with all of our favourite art stars plus interview some up-and-comers about their styles, what it's like to be an artist in Vancouver and how to make it as an aspiring artist. We are Vancouver's leading gay arts & culture rag after all...

Also in this issue, a look at some of our favourite years of the decade and what made them so memorable, Rob Easton shares some Wasted Thoughts on an upcoming cultural event you can't miss, and we profile local superstar DJ Dickey Doo. In that Venus-vein, our photo spread this month is from our own chameleon Michael Venus/Cotton/Every-Pop-Icon-You-Can-Think-Of. His Icons and Demigods celebrates 10 years of posing for the camera and coming up with some jaw-dropping photos. All that plus our regular music and movie reviews, calendar of events, listing section and Vancouver Map to keep you in the know.

Keep checking back for exclusive content, news, videos and music!
